Officials in Belgrade say the president of Serbia and Montenegro, Boris Tadic, has survived an apparent assassination attempt.
A statement from the president's office Wednesday says a car repeatedly tried to crash into Mr. Tadic's car late Tuesday in Belgrade. Another vehicle in the president's motorcade cut off the attacker, who then fled in his car.
The pro-Western Mr. Tadic was not hurt.
There is no word on a possible motive, or who might have carried out the attack.
Pro-Western Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic of Serbia and Montenegro was assassinated last year in front of his office building in Belgrade.
