The political party of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has again announced Burma is extending her house arrest by one year.
The National League for Democracy made the comments Wednesday in a statement.
The group first announced Rangoon's move earlier this week. Burma's Prime Minister, General Soe Win, then reportedly said he was not aware of the extension.
Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has spent most of the past 15 years under house arrest. World leaders have denounced the continuation of her detention.
