There are conflicting reports as to whether Thailand will deport more than 9,000 pregnant illegal workers.
The Bangkok Post and The Nation newspapers report that Thai labor officials have decided to deport the workers, who hail from Burma, Cambodia and Laos.
But the Thai News Agency quotes the director-general of the country's employment department as saying Bangkok has no plans to deport the pregnant workers at this time. He said Thailand may deport the women after they give birth and recover from their pregnancies.
