Iraqi insurgents have attacked a car in the northern city of Mosul, killing four people.
Witnesses say the attack occurred Friday at a traffic intersection in the city. They say three of the victims appeared to be Westerners.
The bodies of the dead were seen lying on the road alongside the burning car.
Earlier, the U.S. military said a Marine was killed Thursday during a security and stabilization operation in western al-Anbar Province, which includes the strife-torn city of Fallujah.
Also Thursday, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan said the United Nations supports Iraq's scheduled elections next month and will broaden its efforts to ensure the ballot is a success, if necessary.
