Associates of Burma's former prime minister have gone on trial at a prison in Rangoon.
Sources told western news agencies that scores of former officials face charges including corruption and illegal possession of foreign currency. The trials are being held inside the notorious Insein prison.
Former Prime Minister Khin Nyunt was ousted in October of last year on chargers of corruption and abuse of power. Recently, Burma's military government released several thousand prisoners whom it said had been wrongly detained by a military intelligence unit headed by Khin Nyunt.
The reports say Khin Nyunt is not among those on trial.
