Burmese government forces have launched an offensive against a band of ethnic rebels just across the border from Thailand.
Burmese soldiers have been engaged in heavy fighting with rebels from the Karenni National Progressive Party in Thai province of Mae Hong Son north of Bangkok for the past week.
Thai officials say they are concerned by the fighting, which has reportedly caused casualties among both Burmese government and rebel troops.
