The United Nations Gender and Religious department mark International Women's Day by presenting an award to Burmese democracy leader Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi for her tireless struggle for democracy in Burma.
On behalf of Aung San Suu Kyi the award will be presented to Daw San San, an elected member of parliament of the National League for Democracy (NLD), by Swiss ambassador Hans-Peter Erismann at United Nations Building in Bangkok.
Daw San San expresses Aung San Suu Kyi's religious belief and pratice to endure the obstacles.
Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since May 2003 despite international calls for her unconditional release.
