Asian stock markets closed mixed today (Tuesday).
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost 38 points to finish at 11,887. The average gained 52 points on Monday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 110 points to end at 13,882. The Hang Seng rose 41 points on Monday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index dropped five points to close at 2,161.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bombay, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Sydney and Wellington. Markets were lower in Bangkok, Manila, Seoul and Taipei
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 105.01 yen, up 0.12 yen from the same time on Monday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose one dollar, 10 cents to close at 435 dollars, 85 cents an ounce.
