Rice Says She Had "Pointed" Talks with Putin

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in Lithuania for an informal but historic NATO foreign ministers' meeting.

The two days of talks are expected to focus on the Mideast, Afghanistan, and Kosovo. This is the first time NATO foreign ministers will meet on territory once occupied by the former Soviet Union.

Lithuania joined NATO last year. Secretary Rice arrived in Vilnius Wednesday direct from Moscow and talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

She has given few details on the talks, but said she spoke "pointedly" to Mr. Putin about the rights of foreign investors in Russia and the need for energy sector reform after the Yukos case.

She also spoke to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about what she calls America's interest in democracy and the rule of law in Russia.
