Bomb Attack in Burma Blamed on Rebels

Burma's military rulers say ethnic rebels are behind Tuesday's bombing in Mandalay that killed two people and wounded 15 others.

The explosion occurred on the ground floor of the Zay Cho market just before closing time. A similar blast at the market in 2001 wounded eight people. Authorities at the time blamed the bombing on a group of ethnic Shan rebels.

Officials have not said which ethnic group was involved in Tuesday's attack.

The blast comes less than a week after Burmese officials confirmed an attack by ethnic Karen rebels on a convoy of trucks and buses in southern Burma, killing eight people.
