Burma Hosts First Davis Cup Match in 50 Years

Burma has hosted its first Davis Cup tennis match in 50 years.

Military leaders, government ministers and tennis fans gathered at a stadium in Rangoon Wednesday for the first matches in the Asia-Oceania Group Four round robin tournament.

Burma last hosted a Davis Cup tournament in 1955, when its national team played against the Philippines.

The Asia-Oceania Group Four tournament features teams from 10 nations, including Singapore, Bangladesh, Jordan, Turkmenistan, and Oman.

The top two teams will advance to next year's Asia Oceania Group Three tournament.
