Bombings Near Mosul, Other Insurgent Attacks Kill 30 in Iraq

  • VOA News

Three suicide bombings in and near the Iraqi city of Mosul and other attacks in Baghdad Sunday have killed at least 30 people, mostly Iraqis.

At least 15 people died at an Iraqi army base outside Mosul when a suicide driver drove into a crowd of workers outside the base and detonated his explosives. Another suicide driver aimed his truck at a police station in Mosul and set off an explosion that killed six people.

A third bomber walked into a guardhouse in Mosul's main hospital and blew himself up, killing four policemen. In Baghdad, gunmen killed a high-ranking Iraqi police officer, and a mortar round struck a home, killing a woman and two children.

The U.S. military says a roadside bomb in Baghdad killed an American soldier and wounded two others.
