Sources: Trial of Burma's Ex-PM Postponed

Reports from Burma say the bribery and corruption trial of ousted Prime Minister Khin Nyunt has been postponed.

Sources in Burma's judicial system gave no reason for the delay. Earlier reports had said the trial would begin Tuesday.

Khin Nyunt took office in 2003 and initiated the so-called roadmap to democracy. He is thought to have favored having limited dialogue with detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

But he was purged last October by Burma's ruling military leaders, who also dismantled his powerful military intelligence unit.

Two of Khin Nyunt's sons, a businessman and an army officer, were prosecuted during a special tribunal held in Insein prison in May.
