British Police Hunt for Subway Bombing Ringleaders

  • VOA News

British police say they are hunting for the suspected ringleaders and anyone else who provided support to the July subway bombings in London.

With the bombers either dead or in jail, a police spokeswoman said Sunday investigators are now looking for those who may have built the bombs, financed the attacks, and hidden the suspects.

Police arrested seven more people Sunday near the southern resort town of Brighton. Officials have not given any information on their alleged ties to the bombings. At least 18 people are now in custody.

Four suicide bombers killed themselves and 52 others July seventh in the London subway and on a bus. Four other suspects allegedly tried but failed to set off bombs on July 21st.

Three alleged bombers are in British custody. A fourth was arrested in Italy Friday, and is reportedly fighting extradition.
