Burmese Drug Ring Leader Arrested in China

China's state-run media say police have arrested a Burmese national believed to be the leader of large drug ring in Burma.

The report by Shanghai Daily says authorities arrested Kyiwin, also known as Yangah Huang, in early January at his wife's home in Shanghai. It is not clear why reports of his arrest were delayed.

Kyiwin apparently fled to China in late December after Burmese authorities launched a major raid against the drug ring.

The report says that during the raid, officials detained several suspects and seized drugs, including one million tablets of methamphetamine. The report says Chinese authorities will extradite Kyiwin to Burma on Friday.
