Israel Strikes New Targets in Lebanon

Israeli warplanes have carried out more air strikes in Lebanon targeting gas depots, the main Beirut-Damascus highway and Hezbollah targets in Beirut's southern suburbs.

Israel's army also has pulled out of the central Gaza Strip.

Israel continues to strike at Hezbollah's infrastructure. Air Force General Ido Nehushtan says anything that helps Hezbollah will be targeted.

"The targets chosen are connected either directly or indirectly with terrorism."

Israel says its operations in Lebanon aim to push Hezbollah forces away from the border area where they can threaten Israelis.

Hezbollah is continuing rocket fire into northern Israel. The fighting began Wednesday after Hezbollah forces kidnapped two Israeli soldiers.

The United States on Thursday vetoed a United Nations resolution demanding that Israel halt its attack, but U.S. officials urged Israel to show restraint in defending itself.

Israel on Friday pulled forces out of the central Gaza Strip, saying they had completed their activities in the area. However, Israeli forces remain in other parts of Gaza.

The troops entered Gaza last month after Palestinian militants seized an Israeli soldier.
