Chinese Official Begins Three-Day VIsit to Burma

The official Xinhua news agency says Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiazuan arrived today in Burma's new administrative capital, Nay Pyi Taw.

Xinhua says Tang traveled to the military-ruled nation at the invitation of the government's first secretary, Lieutenant General Thein Sein.

It says the officials will discuss strengthening ties between their neighboring countries.

Burma has become increasingly isolated in the international community because of the government's poor human rights record and failure to hand power to a democratically elected government.

However, China continues to provide the impoverished country much-needed aid and investment projects.
