Three Burmese Migrant Workers Killed in Southern Thailand

Thai security officials say suspected Islamist militants have killed at least three migrant workers from Burma at a construction site in Thailand's south.

One of the workers was beheaded in the attack late Sunday in Pattani province. At at least four other migrants were wounded.

In neighboring Yala province, a bomb exploded in a market today, wounding at least eight people.

At least two-thousand people have been killed in a separatist insurgency in Thailand's Muslim-majority south over the past three years.

Attacks on foreigners are rare. The militants generally target Buddhists, teachers and workers in the region's rubber industry.

Thailand is predominantly Buddhist and minority Muslims along its southern border with Malaysia complain of unjust treatment by the government.
