WWF says the Ta Sang dam being built on the Salween river will primarily effect ethnic minorities in that part of the country.
The organization says the Salween river is the longest undammed waterway in Southeast Asia, running 28-hundred kilometers. It says Thailand and Burma, which agreed on the joint-venture, are destroying the river before considering the possible discovery of new species.
It also said local communities in the area where the dam is being built will not benefit from the dam because the electricity is to be primarily exported to Thailand
