Burma, Bangladesh to Build Connecting Road

Burma and Bangladesh have signed a deal to build a road linking the two countries.

Officials say construction of the 25-kilometer road connecting Bangladesh's Maricha area to Bawlibazar in Burma will begin later this year.

Authorities said most of the road will be inside Burma, with only two kilometers in Bangladesh.

Burma's minister for construction, Major-General Saw Tun, told reporters in the Bangladesh capital, Dhaka, that the possibility of extending the road into China depends on negotiations with Beijing.
