Aung San Suu Kyi said, "This is not a legal action taken by the NLD party. Although a NLD member is resposible for this action it does not represent NLD. Our policy is to protect our political rights."
She continues, "We will never shun from our responsibilities. However, we will not ignore this action taken by a NLD member that it has nothing to do with us. We will review this matter in different ways, we will act fairly. We do not claim that we are always right."
"We will study this issue from different angles and if necessary we will issue a sttaement. If our NLD members act in the best interest of our country and people we will always standby our members. And if there is a mistake we will not look upon it as a grave mistake," she added.
In conclusion, she said, "The important thing is to act in the best interest of our country and our people. At the same time based on this sole reason our members should not act haphazardly. We want to look into this matter between the authorities and the shwekhamauk issue."
