Thailand has criticized U.S. plans to further punish Burma's military government for its latest crackdown on the country's democratic opposition.
Thailand's foreign minister says plans by the United States to impose economic sanctions against Burma will only hurt the country's poor, not the military government.
Thailand also says the sanctions will result in more Burmese migrants moving to Thailand to find work.
President Bush has said he will sign legislation to impose stiffer sanctions against Burma's military government.
