India, Burma and Thailand have agreed to begin construction next year of a 700-million-dollar highway connecting the three countries.
The agreement came at a meeting of foreign ministers from the three countries in New Delhi.
Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha says the one-thousand-360-kilometer highway will stretch across Burma from India's northeastern border post of Moreh to the Thai town of Mae Sot.
The highway project comes as India seeks closer ties with the economic giants of Southeast Asia.
India has worked to repair relations with Burma in recent years. Relations had been strained after Burma's military seized power in Rangoon in 1988 and New Delhi granted sanctuary to exiled groups.
