Burma's military government has criticized the United States for taking actions it says are aimed at destabilizing the country.
In a statement today (Wednesday), the Rangoon government lashed out at Washington's economic sanctions and suggested that the United States should join Burma as a positive partner for democracy.
The United States has accused Burma's military government of widespread human rights abuses and trying to quash a pro-democracy movement headed by Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been under house arrest since last year.
