Burma's Ethnic Group Delays Peace Talks With Military Regime - 2004-02-11

Burma's largest rebel group says it is postponing the next round of peace talks with the military government.

A spokesman for the Karen National Union told the French News Agency (AFP) his group needs more time to work on the issues that need to be discussed.

The talks were to have taken place in early or mid-February, but are now expected to be held at the end of the month.

Karen rebel leader Bo Mya said last month that one of the problems that needs to be resolved is the plight of thousands of Karen refugees displaced by the long conflict.
