A Burmese rebel leader has been hospitalized in the Thai capital of Bangkok.
The French News Agency reported Thursday the 77-year-old leader of the ethnic Karen National Union, General Bo Mya, has been in the intensive care unit of a Thai army hospital.
Karen National Union officials say the general was taken to the hospital for surgery on his leg, but developed a bladder problem, became ill and lapsed into unconsciousness. His condition is improving, and they say he will be moved to a normal ward on Monday.
The Karen National Union is the largest of several rebel groups resisting Rangoon's military rule.
