British Hostage Family Appeals to Gadhafi to Intervene - 2004-10-03

The brother of British hostage Kenneth Bigley has appealed to Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi to help secure his release from militants in Iraq.

Paul Bigley made the request through the Libyan leader's son, Saif. The captive's brother says he has already heard from the Gadhafi Foundation that it would do all it could to win the freedom of Mr. Bigley from kidnappers linked to wanted terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Meanwhile, authorities are working to identify the bodies of a man and woman found south of Baghdad late Saturday. Some officials say the beheaded man and shot woman could be Westerners, based on their appearance.

In other developments, a Jordanian company announced it would meet the demands of militants holding one of its workers and stop operating in Iraq.
