Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma says talks to resolve the country's disputed presidential run-off election are going badly.
Mr. Kuchma spoke Sunday as the two rival candidates resumed negotiations, one day after Ukraine's parliament, in a non-binding resolution, declared the election results invalid.
The president says compromise is needed to find a solution to the dispute over alleged fraud in the November 21st vote.
Large crowds supporting opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko continue to rally in Kiev. The pro-Western challenger, along with the European Union, have called for a new election.
After last Sunday's vote, Ukraine's election commission said that Moscow-backed Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych had won a narrow victory.
Ukraine's Supreme Court, which has the authority to order a fresh ballot, is expected to rule on the issue Monday.
