Five Italian Tourists Killed in Burma Boat Sinking - 2004-12-01

Five Italian tourists visiting Burma have drowned after their boat capsized and sank in the country's northwest.

A spokesman for the Italian Embassy in Burma says the boat was on a river about 640 kilometers northwest of Rangoon when it was hit by a sudden storm and capsized.

Several other foreign tourists were rescued, while a local guide is missing and believed dead.
