The trials of Burmese intelligence officers associated with ousted Prime Minister Khin Nyunt are continuing for a second day.
Family members of the accused and several defense lawyers were not allowed to enter Rangoon's notorious Insein prison, where the trials are being held.
Scores of former officials of a disbanded military intelligence unit headed by the former prime minister are facing charges including corruption and illegal possession of foreign currency. Recently, Burma's military government released several thousand prisoners whom it said had been wrongly detained by the military intelligence unit headed by Khin Nyunt.
Khin Nyunt was ousted in October of last year on chargers of corruption and abuse of power. The former prime minister is not among those currently on trial.
