Asian stock markets closed mixed Tuesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 40 points to finish at 11,781. The average gained 82 points on Monday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost one percent (134 points) to end at 14,061. The Hang Seng rose a fraction of a percent (38 points) on Monday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index rose 6 points to close at 2,125.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Jakarta, Manila, Sydney and Taipei. Markets were lower in Bombay, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 104.64 yen, up .06 yen from the same time Monday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold fell two dollars, twenty cents an ounce to close at 434 dollars, 45 cents an ounce.
