Burma's most famous journalist, Win Tin, is marking his 75th birthday today (Saturday) in Rangoon's notorious Insein prison.
Since his first arrest in 1989 for his leadership role in the opposition National League for Democracy, he has spent many years in prison and is now serving a 20-year sentence.
Two Reporters Without Borders activists were held for two hours in the Burmese Embassy in Paris Friday when they tried to deliver some symbolic birthday presents
The activists gave the ambassador presents marked "pens," "medicine" and "newspapers," saying Mr. Win Tin has been deprived of those items for the past 16 years.
The representatives also tried to give a letter to the ambassador, who refused it.
