U.S. stocks opened higher Monday, lifted by easing crude oil prices.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 18 points higher at 10,479. The S & P 500 rose three points to 1,184, and the NASDAQ composite gained seven points to 2,006.
European share prices are mixed in midday trading. London's Financial Times index is down eight points at 4,975. The CAC-40 in Paris is one point lower at 4,123, and the DAX index in Frankfurt is up two points at 4,403.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei Average shed 129 points to finish at 11,746 points.
The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong closed down seven points at 13,660.
The price of gold in London is 428 dollars, 64 cents an ounce, up one dollar, 54 cents.
The dollar in London is lower against the euro and the yen.
