U.S. stock indexes have opened lower in Wednesday's trading following disappointing earnings reports from General Motors, Yahoo! Incorporated, and Intel Corporation.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 44 points at 10,603. The S-and-P 500 Index is three points lower at 1,227, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 14 points at 2,160.
London's Financial Times index is six points lower at 5,195. The CAC-40 in Paris is down 11 points at 4,413, and the DAX index in Frankfurt fell three points at 4,767.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 25 points to finish at 11,789. The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong closed up nearly 35 points at 14,603.
The price of gold in London is $423.00 an ounce, up $2.80. The dollar in London is mixed against other major currencies.
