Most Asian stock markets closed higher Wednesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 25 points to finish at 11,789. On Tuesday the average gained six points.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 35 points to end at 14,603. The Hang Seng rose one point on Tuesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index gained 16 points to close at 2,309.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Shanghai, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington.
Markets were lower in Bombay and Seoul. In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 113.07 yen, up 0.47 yen from the same time Tuesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose 60 cents to close at 420 dollars and 95 cents an ounce.
