A Burmese delegation has met with top Bangladeshi officials to discuss the status of refugees, road projects and trade.
General Thura Shwe Mann, a member of Burma's military junta, met Sunday with Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in Dhaka.
The general said the repatriation of some 20,000 Rohingya refugees living in the Cox's Bazar region of Bangladesh will be expedited. He also urged Bangladesh to speed up completion of a 23 kilometer road to the Burmese border.
Mrs. Zia expressed interest in importing onions and pulses from Burma, particularly before the beginning of Ramadan.
