A Swiss-based humanitarian group says it will close its office in Burma because the country's military junta refused to renew its permit.
Leon de Riedmatten, director of the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue said Friday the group will close its doors at the end of the month. He said the government did not explain why the group's permit was not renewed.
The director said he hoped the organization would be able to operate again. Several other humanitarian and development organizations have either suspended, ended or limited their operations in Burma due to complications with the military junta.
Rights groups have criticized Burma's government for suppressing basic human rights and jailing members of the political opposition.
