Al Qaida's number two leader has vowed to avenge the Israeli offensives against Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon and the Palestinians.
In a taped message broadcast by al-Jazeera Arabic television network today Thursday, Ayman al-Zawahiri said the terrorist network will not remain silent while Israeli bombardments, in his words, "burn our brothers" in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
Zawahiri said the missiles and rockets ripping apart Muslim bodies in Gaza and Lebanon are supplied by all countries of what he called the crusader coalition -- an apparent reference to Israel's Western supporters, including the United States.
Therefore, he said, every participant in the crime will pay the price. The message from Osama bin Laden's deputy is an indication that al Qaida, which is made up of Sunni Muslim extremists, is prepared to set aside sectarian differences and help the Shi'ite Hezbollah movement.
