The commander-in-chief of Thailand's army has gone to neighboring Burma, where he is scheduled to meet with the country's top military leaders during a three-day visit.
Thai General Sonthi Boonyaratkalin said Monday the talks will focus on military cooperation. He is to meet with Burma's senior ruling general, Than Shwe and his vice chairman General Maung Aye.
General Sonthi said the leaders will also discuss cooperation along the border. He blamed drug problems in the border region on armed ethnic groups in Burma.
The trip is General Sonthi's first official visit to Burma since becoming the Thai army chief.
