I like to quote on many of the forums what Suu Kyi said, "Please use your freedom to help us get ours." - Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail told VOA Burmese Service in her latest interview on Burma's Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, an Ophthalmologist and wife of former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim did not start off as politician but political realities in her country compelled her to be involved and take the lead in political movement.
After her husband Anwar's arrest in 1998, Dr. Wan Aizah's role became more pronounced in the reform movement, which led to the creation of the 'People's Justice Party' of Malaysia. She is now a second term member of Parliament in Anwar's former constituency, Permatang Pauh.
Dr. Wan Azizah, also vice-chair of Malaysian ASEAN Inter Parliamentary Myanmar Caucus (AIPMC),said of Burma's Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi,"I always feel no matter how hard my personal situation was, it is nothing compared to what Suu Kyi has endured for more than 11 years and is still going through even as we speak."
