Thanda Oo who hails from Moulmein, State High School 6, left Burma with her mother to join her father in the United States in 1996 even before her matriculation exam results were out.
Once in the States she attended Western Illinois University and completed her under-grad B.Sc. degree within 3 and a half years , double majoring in Chemistry and Biology.
She then continued her studies in Urbana University Illinois, pursuing her Ph. D. in Physical Sciences and her MD in Internal Medicine. She just attended both her commencement ceremonies on May 6th and on May 13th.
What a feat for a young Burmese lady!
