Staffer Hla Hla Than prepared a special report in commemoration of the International Women’s Day on March 8, featuring excerpts of speeches on the important role of women in society by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma and Senator Hillary Clinton of the United States.
Stringer Aye Aye Mar covered the international Women’s Day celebrations at the Thai-Burma border by exile Burmese women groups. Dr. Cynthia Maung, an international award winning physician who runs a health clinic for Burmese refugees near Mae Sot in Thailand, spoke on the occasion.
The spokesperson of the exile Women’s League of Burma – Nang Seng Noun – also explained to stringer Thar Nyunt Oo in Bangkok that the mission of her group is for the cause of Burmese women.
