A Burmese newspaper says South Korea's Daewoo conglomerate is waiting to see if additional natural gas reserves are found off Burma before deciding whether to invest in a $3 billion liquefied natural gas plant.
The Myanmar Times quoted the director of Daewoo's Myanmar Exploration and Production (Yang Su-Yeong) as saying if at least 230-billion cubic meters of new gas reserves are found, the company will build the plant.
Daewoo holds a 60 percent stake in Burma's A-1 block off western Rakhine state.
