Thailand's national petroleum company is seeking a 15% stake in a huge offshore natural gas field in Burma's Bay of Bengal area.
News reports say the company wants a share of the field in exchange for its gas purchases.
The natural gas would make its way to market in Thailand via a one-thousand-kilometer undersea pipeline.
