Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Tuesday, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Nikkei index lost nine points to finish at 11,490. On Monday, the average gained 139 points (1.23%). Hong Kong's Hang Seng index, gained 51 points to end at 13,846.
The Hang Seng gained 210 points (1.5%) on Monday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index gained one percent (22 points) to close at 2,140.
Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Sydney and Jakarta. Markets were higher in Bangkok, Bombay, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Wellington.
