Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Tuesday. Tokyo's Nikkei index was up more than 14 points to finish at 11,646.
The average gained 79 points on Monday. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index, dropped 21 points to end at 13, 996.
The Hang Seng rose 172 points (slightly more than 1%) on Monday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index dropped more than one and a-half points to close at two thousand-163.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Taipei. Markets were lower in Bombay, Sydney and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 105.04 yen, up .06 yen from the same time Monday. In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose $1.20 to close at $424.45 an ounce.
