Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Wednesday, with the key market in Tokyo following up on Wall Street's gains.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 53 points to finish at 11,827. Tuesday the average gained 107 points.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 49 points to end at 13,562. The Hang Seng gained 22 points on Monday. Hong Kong markets were closed Tuesday for a holiday.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bombay, Jakarta, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Wellington.
Markets were lower in Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Sydney and Taipei. The Bangkok market was closed today. In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 108.06 yen, down 0.79 yen from the same time Tuesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose 50 cents to close at 426 dollars, 25 cents an ounce.
