Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Thursday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 31 points to finish at 11,531. The average lost 98 points on Wednesday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index advanced 103 points to finish at 14,061. The Hang Seng lost 133 points Wednesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index climbed 16 points to close at 2,153.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei. Markets were lower in Bombay, Jakarta, Sydney and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 104.68 yen, down 0.04 yen from the same time Wednesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose one dollar, 70 cents to close at 435 dollars, 55 cents an ounce.
